'Bold' verdict on Chiefs' new match winner

Former Orlando Pirates striker and current football analyst Phumudzo Manenzhe has issued his verdict on new Kaizer Chiefs signing Glody Lilepo.

Chiefs seem to be reaping the rewards of their January transfer dealings with all three arrivals enjoying extended game-time clocking in at the Naturena gates to sign on the dotted line.

Tashreeq Morris, Thabo Cele and Lilepo have all proved vital in a congested fixture list, forming a key part of Nasreddine Nabi's starting XI.

Lilepo has perhaps been the most productive up front, having contributed three goals from his four appearances thus far.

Speaking on SuperSport TV's ExtraTime, Manenzhe explained why he has been impressed by the man that is said to have cost the Soweto giants just under R10 million.

"I think Lilepo has been a great buy," affirms the man who went by 'The Bold and the Beautiful' for a nickname back in his playing era.

"I love his speed, I love the runs he makes behind the last defender, his willingness to run into the spaces.

"In this instance (against SuperSport United), you see how the ball is played slightly behind (Pule Mmodi), but he still has the time to recruit that ball back and the ability for him (Lilepo) to be able to finish in that moment was excellent.

"For me, it's also a team goal from Kaizer Chiefs, where they attacked on the right and finished on the left," he went on.

Amakhosi will hope Lilepo continues to have his scoring boots on as they confront log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday (15:30).
