Resurgent Magesi bag fourth straight win

Magesi FC bagged a fourth successive win in the Betway Premiership after defeating TS Galaxy 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The home team recalled Mcedisi Vandala, Samuel Darpoh and Thabang Sibanyoni from the win over Stellenbosch FC, while Lebone Seema, Sphesihle Maduna and Kamogelo Sebelebele were restored by the Rockets.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse were ahead in the 20th minute when John Mokone connected with a telling corner by Mzwandile Buthelezi to find the net.

Rockets looked a quick response courtesy of a pin-point header by Khulumani Ndamane, but the defender was unable to steer effort on target.

However, the Rockets regained courage and levelled matters seven minutes to the halftime break through a smart finish on the edge of the area by Sebelebele.

Galaxy made a change after halftime as Nhlanhla Mgaga came on for Mpho Mvelase, while the host were unchanged.

Delano Abrahams restored the lead for Magesi nine minutes into the second period with a strong header after getting on the end of a corner by Vandala.

Owen Da Gama’s men should’ve added another goal two minutes later through another headed effort but Sibanyoni was denied by the woodwork.

All the momentum remained on the side of Dikwena who continued to camp in the opposite third and enjoyed chances courtesy of Vandala and Mokone.

The Rockets were on the charge later on and missed a succession of chances from Victor Letsoalo and Sphiwe Mahlangu, as time began to run out.

Galaxy continued to threaten in added time, as Maduna went closest with a header that came off the post as Da Gama's charges held on for a fourth straight league win.
