Ex-Pirates star: When you hear something like that...

Former Orlando Pirates player Marshall Munetsi has lauded Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira for getting the best out of him despite the team's current situation.

Munetsi made a dream move to the English Premier League club from French side Stade Reims in February this year, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract with the option to extend for one additional year.

Since then, the Zimbabwean international has been showcasing his talent and capabilities on the pitch. He has so far netted one goal and provided an assist in ten matches across all competitions.

However, the situation has not been favorable for the Warriors star and the Old Gold. The team is currently in position 16 in the EPL standings, only two places above the relegation zone with a mere six games still to play.

Regardless, Munetsi has praised Pereira for expressing his faith in him and assuming a father-figure role toward his players.

"The first thing we appreciate as a player is a coach that gives you the idea of his game plan his philosophy,” Munetsi said, per Express and Star.

"He presents it to you in a way that is simple and you can understand you can fit in very well.

"He also gives you the confidence. I remember the first game that I had and I didn’t manage to score and he came to me and said ‘what I love about you is that you’re getting into the right positions, don’t hesitate, next time go in again, keep on trying.

"When you hear something like that from a coach it gives you the confidence to know that he’s trusting me, he knows that I’m working hard to be in this position but the final piece is missing,” he added.

"He is a person who gives you the identity of the club and he also makes you feel like he’s a father that you can be able to talk to and you can be able to work for him."

Munetsi and Wolves will take the field on Sunday as they face the struggling Manchester United at Old Trafford for a league encounter.
