The Tunisian giants won the race for the 25-year-old's signature, making him one of nine new signings made by the club for the 2024/25 season.

His new manager, Miguel Cardoso, arrived at the club in January 2024 after an almost three-year sabbatical following his previous job with Portuguese top-flight side Rio Ave.

According to Africa Foot United, the tactician initially signed a one-and-a-half-year deal until 30 June 2025, but after impressing in his first six months in charge, he has now been handed a contract extension.

It is claimed the 52-year-old has now seen his stay with the Tunisian juggernauts extended by a further year, until June 2026.

"Cardoso's contract has been renewed for one year. His new lease runs until June 30, 2026," a source told the outlet.

Although no official announcement has been made by the club as yet, Transfermarkt affirms that Cardoso is indeed expected to be in charge for at least another 18 months.

Following his appointment nine months ago, Cardoso guided Esperance to a runners-up finish in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League, earning his side a spot at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Moreover, he also guided the team to the 2023/24 Tunisian Ligue I Pro title.
