Rashford releases statement after Man Utd exit rumous

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has publicly addressed speculation surrounding his future, denying claims that he is working with a new agency to leave the Red Devils during the January transfer window.

Reports surfaced on Wednesday suggesting that the 27-year-old had intensified his efforts to secure a move away from Old Trafford by engaging with Stellar, a prominent sports agency.

The article written by The Sun claimed, "Rashford, 27, is in talks with leading sports agency Stellar in the hope of landing a move this month.

''He is currently represented by brother Dwaine Maynard – but the £325,000-a-week star is now keen to get more people working on his exit."

However, Rashford dismissed these claims in an Instagram post, stating:"Been a lot of false stories written in the past few weeks, but guys, this is getting ridiculous – never met with any agency and don't have any plans to…"

Rashford's response comes amidst a challenging period for the England international.

After a stellar 2022/23 campaign, during which he scored 30 goals in all competitions, his form has significantly declined over the past 18 months resulting in criticism regarding his performances and commitment under managers Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

Hopes were high that Amorim's arrival would reignite Rashford's form, but the forward has struggled to make an impact.

His omission from Manchester United's squad for four consecutive matches, including a pivotal derby against Manchester City on December 15, raised eyebrows.

Although he returned to the bench for Monday's 2-0 loss to Newcastle United, he remained an unused substitute. After the defeat, Amorim clarified that benching Rashford was not intended as a pointed message to the player, but speculation over Rashford's place in the team continues to grow.

While Rashford has expressed a desire for a "new challenge" in the past, his recent denial of transfer-related rumors indicates that there could be no immediate plans for a departure.

With Manchester United facing ongoing struggles, questions about Rashford's role and future at the club remain in the spotlight.
