Man Utd boss rules out European finish amid relegation battle concerns

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that the club must shift focus to survival mode after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, leaving them dangerously close to the Premier League relegation zone.

The Red Devils' latest setback at Molineux marked their fourth defeat in five league matches, a run of form that has seen them slip to 14th on the table, just seven points above the drop zone.

United's trouble on the night began when captain Bruno Fernandes received his marching orders early in the second half .

Wolves then struck twice in the second half through Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan, handing Amorim's side their third consecutive loss and exposing significant defensive frailties.

The result underscores the challenges Amorim has faced since taking charge at Old Trafford. With five defeats in his first ten games in all competitions, the Portuguese tactician is under growing pressure to stabilise the team.

Speaking after the match, Amorim dismissed any talk of European qualification, emphasising the need to address immediate concerns.

"No, no, no, no," Amorim said per the Daily Mail when asked about United's chances of securing European football.

"We have to work on a lot of things in our club, both inside and outside the pitch. Right now, it's about surviving and picking up points where we can."

Amorim was candid about the challenges ahead, admitting he has "no idea" how long it will take to turn things around.

"Instead of trying to estimate how much time it will take, it's about improving day by day," he explained. "We need to analyse videos, maximise every training session, and focus on getting points because it's crucial in this moment."

"The idea needs time," Amorim added. "This is a tough moment, and we are far from the end of it. We just have to keep going and focus on the next game."
